For my Humanities class, I read "The House on Mango Street" by Sandra Cisneros. I've read this book before, so I remembered some of it, but reading it again made me see details from a different perspective. My favorite part was the part where Esperanza described her dream home. Since she is still young, she has hopes and dreams for her future. I think Esperanza is a thoughtful person with a strong mind. She mentions that she doesn't want her sister Nenny to play with the Vargas children, because they often play dangerous games. I think that it is very responsible of Esperanza to protect her sister from danger. I would definitely recommend this book to others because the book is told in short chapters and it is a good story for people growing up.
I recently finished reading the book Twelve Angry Men. I read this book for Humanities class. The whole class read it out loud. My favorite part of the book is the ending, where all of the jurors decide on a vote. At the end of the book, two of the jurors were left in the jury room. One of them showed empathy to the other because the other seemed upset. The juror helped the other juror with his coat. I would not recommend this book to anyone else because I was not interested in it and I did not care for the language.
